B 241 Molecular & Cellular Biology Theory

This course covers principles and practice of basic molecular and cellular biology techniques; Introduction to skills in a Molecular and Cellular Biology lab; Tissue Culture, Cell treatment, Plasmids: transformation, isolation and restriction digestion; protein product ion, purification and functional assay; Small-interfering RNAs (siRNA) and gene expression; Isolation of RNA and Analysis of gene expression by Polymerase Cha in Reaction (PCR) and RT-qPCR; Immunofluorescence: following cellular movement of a shuttling RNA-binding protein before and after stress. The course is co-requisite with 'B 242 Molecular & Cellular Biology Applications'
