BESE 302 AI 4 Life Sciences and Medicine

This division-wide lecture course is designed to transcend the boundaries of individual academic programs, offering an interdisciplinary exploration of how AI is applied in Life Sciences and Medicine. The course illustrates the possibilities and limitations of using AI in these fields through story-driven, real-world examples. Rather than focusing on coding or technical implementation, the course emphasizes foundational AI concepts and how they are applied in practice across various areas of the biosciences and medical domain. Special attention is given to innovation and business opportunities, supported by illustrative case studies. The course is tailored to be accessible to Master’s and PhD students with a background in biosciences or medicine. It does not require prior knowledge of computer science or quantitative methods.
